Bio Rex Lasipalatsi is a familiar landmark to all Helsinki residents. The building has a long history: this stunning movie theatre has served as the stage for major movie premieres since 1936. The luxury and elegance of the old building take you to the atmosphere of the past. The auditorium has the original seats from the 1930s, preserved by the Finnish Heritage Agency. On these seats, you can sense the past and the history of cinematography while enjoying the movie.

The technology in Bio Rex Lasipalatsi was moderately renewed in the spring of 2023, and a Dolby 7.1 sound system now takes care of the auditorium’s fantastic sound quality. The amount of seating rows was also reduced to give more leg room and improve seat comfort.

Bio Rex Lasipalatsi mainly operates for weekend movie screenings, usually from Friday to Sunday. Bio Rex Lasipalatsi auditorium is prohibited for people under the age of 18 due to liquor licence limitations.
